In the holistic field, we so often refer to the dimensions of a person when working on healing. Examples of these dimensions are physical, emotional, mental and spiritual qualities. These dimensions are qualities of one being, like you or me, that come together to create wholeness.
In my view, it’s the same with a holistic business. A business has physical qualities, like a store or a bank account. It has emotional qualities, like how your customers feel about your services. Mental qualities cover a wide range from business planning, intellectual property, systems, marketing and let’s not forget mindset. The spiritual dimension of a business is the heart of a business – your why, your purpose, your values.
Let’s acknowledge the wholeness of your business through the lens of exploring each of its dimensions.
PHYSICAL DIMENSION:
I invite you to write down everything you can think of related to the physical dimension of your business. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
- the physical space where you conduct your business.
- everything in that physical space.
- Even if you have an online business, there are still hosting and platforms that are needed hold your information and activity.
- devices and tools that you use to conduct your business, like your computer, mobile phone, etc.
- people who work with you on your business.
MENTAL DIMENSION
After you have written down the elements within the physical dimension of your business, consider this list of elements of the Mental Dimension of your business. Jot down your thoughts about where you are in each of these categories.

- Systems: Make Your Job Easier
- Marketing
- Mindset Influences Everything
EMOTIONAL DIMENSION
The Emotional dimension of a holistic approach to your business includes qualities like:
- Managing your own feelings about your business –
- Managing your interactions with co-workers and customers
- Sacred Space. In your place of business, physical space or online space, how do you create a feel-good energy within that space? Sacred Space actually creates a bridge between the emotional and spiritual dimensions. Sacred Space offers you, your business, your customers and co-workers coherence and a high vibration. ANYTHING becomes possible within this space.
SPIRITUAL DIMENSION
This dimension is actually the most important of the dimensions and the one most ignored. The spiritual dimension is all about: WHY DOES YOUR BUSINESS MATTER? The spiritual dimension of a business is the heart of a business – your why, your purpose, your values.
- Why have you created a business?
- Why does your business matter?
- What core values are expressed in your daily interactions in your business?
- How does my business demonstrate that I care?
- How does my business give back to the larger community?
Yet, there is a forgotten dimension within the spiritual dimension of a business. Your business has an energetic PRESENCE. I call it the Spirit of my business. It’s like the higher self of a person. The spirit of your business is the higher self of your business. You can connect with this presence, have a conversation with this presence, and ask it for its help.
Holistic Practitioners rarely receive business training while training for their chosen modalities. We feel that business training is essential for creating a viable holistic practice.
