Frosted Crystal BowlIn order to understand how sound and crystals, particularly crystal singing bowls, affect us, we need to take a look at resonance first.

Resonance is defined as the frequency at which an object most naturally vibrates.

If I tap on a table, you hear the natural resonance of the wood. If I tap a wall or a metal door, you hear the natural resonance of the wall or door.

EVERYTHING is in vibration. And EVERYTHING has its own resonant frequency.

Interesting things can happen when objects vibrate at their resonant frequency. Most people are familiar with the soprano who can break a glass with her voice. How she does that is by matching her voice to the sound of the glass when it is tapped.

Actually, the popular TV show, “Mythbusters,” did a whole segment on breaking a glass with the voice. Here is a link to the segment if you want to check it out.

People have resonance too. Have you ever met somebody new and felt that you had known that person your entire life? That’s resonance.

Have you ever walked into a room where there has recently been a heated argument and could feel the heaviness in that space? That is the resonance of anger.

Your entire body is made up of vibrating atoms, molecules, cells, organs, and so on. Each one of these vibrating parts, vibrates at its own particular resonance. Your body is a collage of all these different resonances.

Your soul also has a specific resonance, or frequency. That’s how your angels and guides find you. Like turning the dial to find your favorite radio station. Your soul’s frequency broadcasts its own specific ‘station.’

Your emotions and feelings also have resonance. And each emotion vibrates at its own particular frequency (or radio station).

Imagine, for example, a time in your life where you felt resentment about something. Resentment has its own specific resonance. And many of us end up planting this feeling somewhere in our body.

Planting feelings in our body creates blocks when we are trying to accomplish something – especially something new.

A feeling that comes up during the day during our work or other activity that resonates with that original feeling of resentment can cause that feeling of resentment to grow, seemingly out of nowhere. And we are blocked finding it difficult to move forward.

Sound travels THROUGH your body faster than it goes through the air.

A certain sound, like a specific Tibetan or crystal singing bowls, can match the resonance of that original feeling of resentment and start to dissolve it.

The sound of the bowl acts like putting a microphone in front of this feeling that has been stuck in the body. It amplifies it.

It is starting to dissolve because you can feel it again. That is a good thing.

It offers you the choice to continue using the sound to completely dissolve this emotional block. As you work with the sound, you may notice that you continue to feel the emotion as it moves out of your body.

The cool thing about sound is that it allows you to feel this emotion without attaching to any story or drama around the cause of it.

You just watch it dissolve – like the shattering of the wine glass from the singer’s voice.
