Wearing many hatsWe all wear so many hats these days. If you are an entrepreneur, there’s marketing, customer service, scheduling, personal training, creation of products or services, delivering product or service, secretary, bookkeeper, webmaster, blog writer – this list can go on and on.

Have you noticed that self-care is usually not on this list?

And then there are the personal hats – family, self-care, community and more. How can a day get any more full? Self-care is usually at the bottom of this list.

Each of these hats has it’s own to-do list. It can quickly feel like there is more list than day! The result of this pressure often leads to feeling overwhelmed.

It seems as though intensity in our daily life is something we need to be able to face these days. This intensity can also take a huge toll on your health and wellbeing.

The fact is your body is designed to be healthy! But chronic stress interferes with your body’s natural state of harmony.

Regular Tune-ups

Tuning up your carAs you know, regular tune-ups for your car, or even your bicycle, are essential to keep it in good running condition.

A tune-up keeps the engine running smoothly with the right amount of oil and fuel. All electrical systems are checked so the ‘brains’ of your car runs everything efficiently. The electrical systems are what gets the car started and keeps it going.

The body is checked out to make sure there is enough air in the tires to keep you moving and the rest of the body is safe and comfortable for you, your friends and your family.

Regular tune-ups for your car keep it running efficiently for many years. And this offers you the freedom and adventure of travel. Of connection with friends and family who don’t live close to you.

So what’s does all this talk about a car have to do with you?

EVERYTHING!

You need regular tune-ups as much as your car does!

Tune-ups keep your emotional engine flowing smoothly without getting stuck – keeping you stuck.

Tune-ups support clarity and focus in your electrical systems – your brain and nervous system.

Tune-ups keep your body, and your entire being, running in harmony. When something in your body is ‘out of tune’, you end up with aches or pains, headaches, sleeplessness, digestive problems and more.

And then there are the results (or SOUL) of the tune-up – freedom, adventure, joy, connection, calm, happiness.

We thrive on harmony, even if it is just moments of harmony in a full day. Your soul needs this! When your soul is fed with harmony – your whole being responds with health and wellbeing!

The human body is a natural resonator for sound. You are WIRED to respond to sound from your atoms to your energetic networks!

Sound affects you deeply from your atoms to your energetic networks, even if you’re ignoring it. This is why it is a supremely effective tool for self care.

Sound is one of the most powerful tools you can use to clear the clutter, expand awareness and reconnect with your body’s natural ability to heal.

The right choice of sound or music can effortlessly

  • create relaxation
  • reduce or eliminate pain
  • boost your immune system
  • diminish depression
  • dissolve emotional blocks
  • stimulate the natural healing ability of your body
  • accelerate growth in consciousness
  • give you peace
  • and so much more.

Sound Wellness Tune-ups

1. Quick Tune-Ups

Here are some of my favorite, less than a minute, harmony moments:

  • take a deep, slow breath
  • hum a favorite tune
  • tap a Tibetan singing bowl (One of the things the sound of a Tibetan singing bowl does is to reset the body to its natural state of harmony.)
  • sigh 2 or 3 vocalized sighs to stimulate the relaxation response
  • tap the Perfect 5th tuning forks and listen to them.
  • sing ahhhhh for a few moments or a few minutes, while focusing your awareness on your heart
  • smell a flower
  • stand in the grass with bare feet

I encourage you to have a list of your favorite harmony moments, written or in your mind. Use them whenever you feel a sense of overwhelm beginning, so you can return to sharing your passion and gifts with those who need them.

2. System Tune-ups

  • The Nervous System Balance. Listen once a day. This series of four tuning fork sounds allows you to start each day with calm and balance. http://soundwellness.com/balance/
