Burned out and DrainedHave you felt this? …A complete crash of your energetic system?

Accompanying this crash can be bone-numbing fatigue, non-stop headache, muscle aches and pains and heightened emotional sensitivity.

After experiencing a crash myself recently, I feel that it is time to start a conversation about empath overload and how to support those who are super-sensitive.

Here are a couple of articles from the Sound Wellness blog about Empathy and Empaths:

Straight Talk about Empathy

Compassion Fatigue: Some Quick Clearing Tools for Empaths

The collective field of human consciousness feels like a tornado to me right now. And at the same time, it feels like a soup of incredible potential. Whew!

Our world has been turned upside down and we are beginning to realize in our heart of hearts that we will never be able to return to ‘the way it was.’

That leaves us with two choices:

  • Immerse ourselves in grief and self-pity.
  • Find a way to move forward.

To be honest with you, there are days when I find myself flowing in and out of both of these states.

On those days when I contemplate how to move forward, I found three things that have been nudging their way into my awareness:

1. Root Chakra Upheaval

Our individual and collective root chakra are being dissolved. They are undergoing a complete recalibration. Just like the caterpillar turns into caterpillar soup before it begins to transmute into a butterfly, our collective root chakras are transmuting into something different.

We’re still in the ‘soup’ stage with occasional glimpses of what might be a next step forward.

The root chakra represents our connection to life itself and to our ability to thrive. Here we connect with our physical bodies and to the earth as our source of groundedness.

Two particular characteristics of the root chakra have been deeply impacted by the Covid19 epidemic and the global response to it. These are our sense of safety and security. I can feel this pain in the collective field and I’m sure many other sensitive souls are also feeling it.

Human beings are social beings. We always thrive when we are connected to our tribes. This could be our immediate family, our extended family, our circle of close friends, our community groups, our neighbourhood, our city and even to our country.

The global response to the pandemic has connected us to the global perspective in a way nothing ever has before.

Some of our old societal and belief patterns are being plucked out of us like noxious weeds from the garden. We are seeing things from our collective shadow that we no longer wish to tolerate. The Black Lives Matter movement is a powerful reflection of this.

These are reflections of tribal connectedness evolving from national connectedness to human connectedness on a global scale. We are witnessing a birth of a new way of being human. And this brings us to the next thing…

2. Feeling Our Connectedness

Our entire human family has always been connected. What is different now is that we are becoming more aware of our connectedness.

I have been a musician, a classical guitarist, all my life. One of my favorite things is to play in ensembles. For musicians who play in ensembles or bands have felt the close, synchronized and almost psychic, bonds between the players.

The same thing happens in dance, synchronized swimming, sports teams, high performing teams at work and so many other activities humans engage in together.

I love how the universe works! As I contemplated this week’s blog, an article from Uplift Connect showed up in my inbox called, “The Emergence of Connected Consciousness” by Azriel ReShel. This capacity is also called “distributed intelligence.”

Joanna Macy and Chris Johnstone define distributed intelligence as:
A key feature of distributed intelligence is that no one part has to have the whole answer. Rather, the intelligence of the whole emerges through the actions and interactions of its parts.”

The author, Azriel ReShel goes on to state: “Connected consciousness, or being at one with all that is, is not something to only be experienced by mystics or dedicated spiritual practitioners. It is the natural state of each one of us. And all we need do to experience is, is to let go of everything that blocks it. To return to our child-like innocence, trust, and reverence for all of life.”

One of the initiatives of The Heartmath Institute is The Global Coherence Initiative. Random number generators and other instruments like magnetic field detectors have been placed around the globe. They are set to run 24/7. What is being discovered is that these instruments are measuring the connected consciousness of humanity. It is a fascinating science!

Here is another website that offers live data monitoring of the connected consciousness and the Schumann Resonance

Here is an image from the website of the Schumann Resonance from July 10, 2020. Where you see the streaks of white in the chart is showing high frequencies that are powerfully affecting our growth in consciousness and awareness.

During the time of separation that is dictated by the current pandemic, it is even more essential that we find ways to feel connected – with family, friends, nature, animals, our beautiful planet and our entire human family.

3. Essential Self-Care

Let’s talk about how to manage our own energy and share what has worked for us as we navigate these turbulent times.
Here are a few tips from my own empath survival toolkit:

  • Put on some lively music and move or dance. Move out any energy that is not yours.
  • Stand in the grass in your bare feet. Ground into the earth and let any energy that is not yours drain out through your feet.
  • Listen to nature sounds. They bring you back into balance so gently.
  • Laugh! Laughter is great medicine that returns you back to harmony in a wonderfully fun way.
