Generative music is defined as "endless music created by a system."

It’s a never-ending, constantly changing soundscape created by a computer.

It’s like wind chimes. The actual sounds of the metal or wooden tubes are chosen by the person who makes them. When they are hung, then the energy of the wind creates an ongoing and unpredictable soundscape of the tubes being tapped.

Generative music is like wind chimes, only with a lot more choice and creative options.

Generative Music by Brian EnoThe term “Generative music” was coined by Brian Eno in 1996 when he released “Generative Music 1.”

Brian Eno is a musician, composer, record producer, singer, and visual artist who pioneered electronic ambient music and generative music. His immensely creative and influential career includes collaborations with many of the most well known musicians of our times.

Eno’s work has inspired many others to creatively explore this type of soundscape.
