A couple of weeks ago, I shared a blog I had written in 2012 that was more relevant today than when it was written. CLICK HERE to read, “A Foot in Both Worlds.”

Deja-vu has returned with another theme that really struck a nerve at our Harmony for Life program in March, just before we were sent into isolation – CATERPILLAR GOO.

Let me explain.

The intention of our Harmony for Life program is to ground our participants in the understanding and experience of Harmony. Part of the understanding of Harmony is understanding its opposite – CHAOS. And at some point, one of our participants asked what happens when a caterpillar enters the cocoon – we have some of the most facinating insights during our programs.

Chaos is an essential part of the process of re-organizing an organism into a higher level of order or harmony.

Dr. Ilya Prigogine, a Nobel Prize winning chemist, was renowned for his discovery that chaos in chemical systems could result in a re-organization into a higher level of order. This was a fascinating discovery that is actually reflected in nature and in us as a part of nature.

“First, the caterpillar digests itself, releasing enzymes to dissolve all of its tissues. If you were to cut open a cocoon or chrysalis at just the right time, caterpillar soup would ooze out. But the contents of the pupa are not entirely an amorphous mess. Certain highly organized groups of cells known as imaginal discs survive the digestive process…Once a caterpillar has disintegrated all of its tissues except for the imaginal discs, those discs use the protein-rich soup all around them to fuel the rapid cell division required to form the wings, antennae, legs, eyes, genitals and all the other features of an adult butterfly or moth.”

This conversation with our participants led to a comparison with the spectacular process of transformation and transmutation the human being and our societal structures are undergoing at the present time.

This change is happening at every level of our being. It is being supported by the enormous chaos going on around us.

We are becoming aware of and connecting to the brilliance and expansive nature of the collective mind, rather than the limited individual mind.

Our individual and collective belief systems are being completely disintegrated and re-examined as we shift our individual identity from the personality to the soul.

Collectively we are also seeing how deeply we are connected with each other, even as individual souls.

We are becoming more present to the destructive or constructive power of our emotional states.

We are opening to the intuitive abilities that are present when we identify and become a home to the soul.

As children, we are all taught responsibility in many ways. As we awaken to the power each of us has, it is also a time of taking responsibility for our thoughts, emotions and energy and how it contributes to the whole.

As we settle in to extended restrictions and isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic all of this has been amplified.

We are certainly evolving – but we are still in the stage of Caterpillar Goo.

These imaginal discs of our human transformation are the seeds of the new structures, expanded capacity and potential that we are growing in to.

Like the caterpillar, the imaginal discs have always been present. They are not yet expressed. And, like DNA, all of the information is already here.

So, I’m curious.

As an imaginal disc swimming around in our human transformational goo – what is the gift that your imaginal disc brings to the whole? Are you as curious as I am? I hope so!
