Maintaining a positive mindset and positive, strong energy is a daunting challenge these days. Especially for those who are highly sensitive. exuberantAre you noticing that? Are you noticing how easy it is to slip down a negative wormhole that can stick like toffee?

Your energy is your greatest asset. How are you supporting it? How are you protecting it with boundaries? And how vigilant are you with that support and protection?

By using the word energy, I am referring to your physical energy, your mental energy, your emotional energy and your spiritual energy.

Your Physical Energy

Do you find yourself exhausted by the end of the day? What replenishes your physical energy? Do you have ways to know what is most supportive for you?

A huge challenge for those who are highly sensitive is absorbing other people’s symptoms. Many years ago, I found out that I was absorbing headaches and stomach aches from students who had come for a music lesson. That was a huge awakening for me and resulted in an intense search for ways to strengthen my boundaries to stop doing that.

Your Mental Energy

I have been hearing from so many people these days that they just can’t get rid of brain fog. Even more curious is that this brain fog doesn’t always have a medical source or reason for it. Mental clarity is greatly hindered by an overly activated sympathetic nervous system.

The amygdala, a tiny structure in your brain, is responsible for activating this nervous system. Its job is to keep you safe. It does that by responding to danger with stress hormones and adrenaline. It also cuts off access to the thinking brain so you can respond quickly in an emergency.

The problem is that the amygdala is also highly activated by fear and worry thoughts. Fear and worry stimulate your amygdala to activate the sympathetic nervous system. This is where the stress response becomes chronic, along with a multitude of symptoms, including brain fog. As long as you stay in fear and worry thought mode, you will be hindering your thinking brain.

KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS is a practice that will support you in managing your mental energy. Creating strong boundaries around what influences your thinking is part of this practice.

Your Emotional Energy

Emotional energy is life energy itself. This energy is also deeply interconnected with our relationships. The electromagnetic energy around your heart extends outside of your skin at least three feet. And your emotions are present in this field. It is the same for everyone. All of this emotional energy in the hearts field contributes in a big way to the energetic soup we live in.

Emotional boundaries are essential! Emotional boundaries also assist us to transform negative emotions into positive ones. Stress and highly activated nervous systems in so many people these days has amplified frustration and anger. Small buttons being pushed are resulting in major explosions of emotional energy. Have you noticed this?

Creating moments of pause to take a breath or a moment of mindfulness or calm is essential to create harmony within the nervous system.

Your Spiritual Energy

This is your connection to your beautiful, divine, inner you. You can never lose this part of you. You can forget that it is there, though, in the bustle of busyness and daily life. This is your source of strength and compassion no matter what is going on in your life. This is the part of you that yearns for quiet time to yourself to replenish that connection.
