This week’s blog is an excerpt from my upcoming book, “Please Pass the Calm”.
Sometimes it is easy to forget just how connected we are to the earth and her beautiful beings. Occasionally, a remarkable experience reminds me how perfectly we are all connected, heart to heart.
A few years ago, my husband and I were in Las Vegas on vacation. Neither of us had been to Las Vegas. The hotel across the street from where we were staying boasted over 200 waterfalls (The Mirage). It was also home to some wild animals (lions and tigers, etc.) featured in one of the shows there.
Another surprise was that this hotel was home to three adult dolphins, and a baby dolphin that had been born there five months previously. We decided to go and see them.
The dolphins occupied three connecting pools. When we arrived, the staff gave us an introduction to the facility, describing how to find our way around, and a bit about the dolphins’ routine. The staff interacted with the dolphins at various times throughout the day for feeding, playing, exercising and observing.
My understanding about dolphins is that they are highly intelligent and have a sentient consciousness like we do. That means that they are self-aware, like us.
The male dolphin was in the larger pool separated from the other dolphins by a gate. He was watching the two female dolphins swim with the baby dolphin in the other two pools. We went to an observation area where we could see them from under the water.
There were two windows, each one giving a view of adjacent pools. Every few minutes, the male dolphin by the gate would circle up to the surface to breathe then return to the gate.
As he circled back to the gate, he swam right by the window where I was standing. On one of his circles around I imagined a beam of love coming from my heart and consciously sent it towards the dolphin as he swam toward me and back to the gate.
On the next circle, as the dolphin swam toward me, I felt a surge of warmth, expansion, love and peace in my heart.
I was astounded! It came from the dolphin! Wow!
This beautiful being had felt what I sent and returned the gift! How is such a thing possible?
My experience with this dolphin returning the energy was heartwarming confirmation of our connection with not only other humans but with other sentient (or self-aware) beings.
Heart energy we send out is indeed received.
My husband and I spent a wonderful morning watching the dolphins play, talk, whistle, swim with the baby, and interact with the people who care for them. They were so gentle with those who were in the water with them. Just as we were leaving, all of the dolphins were playing in the big pool and two of them jumped out of the water into a perfectly synchronized triple flip.
I invite you to contemplate how these magical moments show up in your own life.
