Singing Bowls are like a Restart Button for the Body and Field

Computer restartSinging Tibetan bowls work like the restart button on your computer. Sometimes, when things just aren’t working on the computer, a restart is all it takes to get it humming along properly. The body and energetic field do the same thing with the right Tibetan bowl. So does reiki. There is great potential for the reiki practitioner to complement sessions with Tibetan bowls.

As the sound travels through the body, it creates a movement that can loosen up emotional blocks allowing them to leave, loosen up tight muscles, dislodge the constant chatter in the mind and so much more.

When the sound stops, the body and field reset to their original healthy and harmonious state. This stimulates the natural, healing response of the body.

Some singing bowls will harmonize with you and/or a client and some won’t. Maybe many of them will or maybe none of them will. When working with a bowl it is essential to be aware of the effect of its sound on you. How does it feel?

The Effect of a Singing Bowl on the Body’s Frequencies

Every molecule in the body vibrates at specific frequencies. The frequencies of your heart are different from the frequencies of your brain, liver, stomach, arm.

Here is a quote about how the singing bowl affects these frequencies from “Singing Bowls, A Practical Handbook” by Eva Rudy Jansen. (p. 39)

“The human body is a living entity of vibrations and wavelengths. A healthy organ is well tuned, meaning that it vibrates only at its own frequency, while the frequency of a sick organ is disturbed. Singing bowls (as well as gongs and tingshaws) recreate the original harmonic frequency, and stimulate the body to rediscover its own harmonic frequency, by making it vibrate to the frequency of the bowl so that when it is synchronized, it can vibrate independently.”

Calming the Mind with the Tibetan Singing Bowl

Playing a Tibetan bowlTibetan Bowls are also ancient brainwave entrainment tools that help to quiet the mind. Because of the way that Tibetan bowls are made, they naturally resonate at multiple frequencies. This leads to the very apparent “beats” or waverings in the sound when the bowl is played. These wavering sounds entrain the brainwaves and help to calm the mind.

There are many ways to integrate the sounds of Tibetan Singing bowls in a Reiki session. They can be used directly on the body, under the table or around the body in the field. If you have found a bowl that feels exquisite to you when it is played, your can explore bringing it into wider service with your clients.
