Your Physical Energy

Do you often end the day completely drained? What replenishes your body best? Each of us has unique ways to restore physical vitality, yet highly sensitive people face an extra challenge: absorbing other people’s symptoms.
Years ago, I realized I was taking on headaches and stomach-aches from my students during music lessons. That discovery launched a deep search into boundary practices so I could stop carrying energy that wasn’t mine.

Your Mental Energy

So many people share that they’re battling brain fog these days. Interestingly, it doesn’t always have a medical cause. Often, it’s the result of an over-activated sympathetic nervous system, fueled by fear and worry.

Here’s why: the amygdala—a tiny structure in your brain—switches on stress hormones to keep you safe. But it’s just as easily triggered by fearful or anxious thoughts, which keeps your body in chronic stress mode. The result? Foggy thinking and mental fatigue.

The remedy? Know your thoughts and know how stress shows up for you. Become aware of what you feed your mind. Set strong boundaries around influences that drain clarity. This practice alone can restore a tremendous amount of mental energy.

Your Emotional Energy

Emotions are life energy itself, and they radiate beyond your skin through the electromagnetic field of your heart—about three feet in every direction. We live in a vast energetic soup of everyone’s emotions blending together.

Without emotional boundaries, you may find yourself swimming in collective frustration or anger. With so many nervous systems stuck in stress mode, it doesn’t take much to trigger an outburst these days. Have you noticed?

Creating pauses—taking a mindful breath, grounding yourself, or stepping into stillness—helps you regulate emotional energy and return to harmony.

Your Spiritual Energy

This is your unshakable connection to the divine essence within you. You can’t lose it, though you may forget it in the noise of daily life. It’s your eternal well of compassion, strength, and wisdom.

Your spiritual energy thrives when you create quiet space for connection—time for meditation, prayer, stillness, or simply being in nature. How do you cut off the outside noise to nourish this part of you?

Right now, humanity is in the midst of a collective dark night of the soul. We are staring directly into our deepest shadow. For highly sensitive people, this is an especially challenging time. Without focused energetic boundaries, the heaviness of this collective darkness can feel overwhelming.
But remember—this darkness is a prelude to the dawn. When we face it consciously, we uncover the brilliant light waiting beneath.

One of my favorite quotes by Carl Jung is “One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.”
