It’s finally spring in Calgary! The grass has turned green. The leaves on the trees are out. The apple trees in the back yard are in full bloom. The tulips and little hyacinths are in bloom. Farmers are out in the fields planting crops. It is time to prepare the soil for planting seeds.
And it is a new moon. The perfect time to also plant seeds of intention. As I contemplate what seeds I am planting in my garden this year, I am also led to contemplate what kind of inner soil is receiving my seeds of intention. To be honest, this is a part of the process that I have not contemplated in depth.
For those of you who have followed this blog or my online events, you may be familiar with my ritual of using the breath to fill actual seeds with my intentions for the new year. It is one of my favorite rituals and has brought many miracles into my life and business.
I now realize and acknowledge that my spiritual practices nourish how my intentions in those seeds manifest in my life. Here are a few ideas for you to contemplate in nourishing your inner soil.
1. Reverence – Sacred practice
How do you acknowledge the sacred in your daily life? There are so many simple ways to bring reverence to your daily life, In my blog, Remembering Reverence, https://soundwellness.com/remembering-reverence/ you will find several of my favorite ways bring reverence into my day. My own practices of meditation, mindfulness and prayer are favorite ways to spend time with my heart and bring strong nourishment to my inner soil.
2. Gratitude
Gratitude nourishes your heart like nothing else! And it supports physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health in so many ways from reduced stress and anxiety, heart health, better relationships, happiness and on and on.
A simple daily gratitude practice of writing down 3 things I am grateful for and feeling that gratitude in my heart, has filled many gratitude journals. Gratitude fills your inner soil with sparkles of light!
3. Mindset
Many years ago, I made a conscious choice to become a student of my thoughts. That one choice created a fascinating journey into the depths of my being. Your mindset can either add nourishment or poison to inner soil.
As I have witnessed my thoughts and how they affected the events of my daily life, I became more and more empowered to choose and create the thoughts that I wished to affect my daily life.
This is a lifelong journey of learning that takes determination, consistency and compassion that eventually (and more often) will bring that beautiful mind into alignment with your soul’s purpose. The rich inner soil.
4. Flow
It took me many years to realize that the Universe runs on a different ‘clock’ than mine. I call it ‘divine timing’. Things have rarely shown up when I wanted them to.
If I tried to make the Universe follow my timeline, it usually ignored my intentions and I ended up feeling resentful. Resentment ended up bringing the opposite of what I wanted. That was a hard lesson.
If I allowed my intentions to follow divine timing with gratitude, they morphed into something better that I could never have imagined for myself.
As you settle into the energy of the growing season, contemplate the condition of your inner soil.
Is it dry? Is it cracked? Is it full of weeds?
Is it moist? Is it loose? Is it nourished by how you live your daily life?
The Universe uses your inner soil as fuel for creation. As you continue to nurture your own inner soil, you will nourish your soul work in powerful ways.
In Health and Harmony,
