Yes, the science really is real.
!’m often asked how I came to be involved with Sound Wellness. After all, Sharon is the core of what we do. She creates the programs, most of the content and most of the delivery.
The first thing that you need to know is that I’m an Engineer. I have spent 30 plus years working in industry defining processes, and making things work better. My gift is that I can see solutions to problems before most people can see that the problem even exists.
In 2008, I owned a consulting company. And I hired a manager to help with marketing, appropriately named Mark. He lived in Vancouver, and I would travel there 3 or 4 times a year for an in-person meeting. Sharon was just getting Sound. Wellness started, and in 2009 we also created a self-study version of the Fundamentals program, on 11 CDs, and a workbook. I knew Mark used specific music to support his meditation practice, so I gave him a copy for feedback.
When we next met, I asked Mark what he thought of the program. I shouldn’t have done that, because he told me that the work that Sharon had been doing is waaaaaay more important than what I was working on. Sigh. Not the answer I was looking for, so I set his comments aside, and we spent the rest of the meeting working on marketing strategies for my company.
Time is fascinating, and as the time passed until my next visit, I considered what Mark had said. When we met again, I told him that, ok, the work that Sharon had been doing is way more important than what I was working on, so how do we market her company?
In 2010, I gave up my consulting business to help Sharon get the Sound Wellness program going. While Sharon is brilliant at creating the programs, she lacked the technical ability to put everything together. There was a caveat though, before I would get involved. The science had to be real. The information that we have for you, the exercises, the research that has gone into the tools that we share with you, had to be legitimate. That is, it had to be quantifiable, and it had to be repeatable. It did not need to be universal though. Unfortunately, we are all unique individuals, and our response to sound and music is as unique as we are.
And so here I am. Helping to make sure that your experience with us always exceeds expectations.
In future articles, I’ll share with you some of the science that is Sound Wellness.
