About Sound Wellness by Mountain Rose Music

Sound Therapy

The use of sound to help people in their healing is as old as civilization itself. Sound therapy can assist with stress reduction, calming the mind, and improving focus. Sound therapy is also used to complement traditional treatments such as chemotherapy, recovery from surgery, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, and massage, to name a few.

At Sound Wellness by Mountain Rose Music, we create and offer programs that offer you experience and knowledge in how sound affects you as an individual. Our workshops and self study programs in healing sound educate you in many ways sound impacts you personally, and how sound healing can be easily applied to your everyday life.

In support of our programs, we offer a variety of sound healing tools and CDs through or online store. Our newsletter and blog provide ongoing learning, information and inspiration.

About Sharon Carne

Sharon’s heart has belonged in music for most of her life. After falling in love with the Classical guitar in her teens and having earned her Bachelor of Music, and Master of Fine Arts degrees, she joined the faculty of the Conservatory at Mount Royal University in 1988.

Sharon's intense curiosity about the deeper and healing nature of sound was sparked by some innocent exercises in stage fright with some nervous adult students in the early 1990s. This led to intense personal research and ultimately for her to study with two of the field’s pioneers, Jonathan Goldman and Tom Kenyon. Sharon is a certified Sound Healer, a certified Reiki Master, and a certified Acutonics Practitioner.

In 2008, Sharon was invited to participate in a study on stress reduction sponsored by the Integrative Health Institute at Mount Royal University. Sharon developed a program specifically for the study using a variety of sound healing techniques. At the conclusion of the program, enthusiasm was so high that the material was expanded, and the Sound Wellness program was created to bring this valuable information to a larger audience.

Sharon has spoken for the National Health, Work and Wellness conference, the Integrative Health Institute at Mount Royal University, Canadian Blood Services, the Alberta Health Region conference on Chronic Disease Management, the Manitoba Health Region, the Mental Health Commission of Canada, three years for the University of Calgary Medical School, the Calgary Health Region, three years for the City of Calgary, the Calgary Board of Education staff conference, the Northwest Guitar Festival, private corporations, and others.
